Weather Situation
A broad area of deep tropical moisture extends over central and northern parts of the state. Multiple subtle trough systems embedded in this airmass will provide a trigger for clusters of slow-moving thunderstorms producing localised areas of heavy rainfall.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Peninsula, North Tropical Coast and Tablelands, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders and Herbert and Lower Burdekin
Corrected to remove the Gulf Country and North West districts.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Georgetown, Forsayth, Mount Garnet, Chillagoe and Einasleigh.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Gulf Country and North West districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.

MODERATE FLOODING OCCURRING AT RICHMOND POST OFFICE
RIVER LEVELS ARE EASING AT CLONCURRY
Recent moderate rainfall over the upper Flinders catchment has caused river level rises in the upper Flinders River. Further showers and storms are forecast over the next few days, which is likely to cause further river level rises across the catchment.
Moderate flooding is estimated to be occurring along the Flinders River at Richmond Post Office, with further rises likely during the remainder of Monday and into Tuesday. The Cloncurry River at Cloncurry is now easing following a below minor peak Monday morning.
Flinders River to Richmond:
Moderate flooding is occurring along the Flinders River to Richmond.
No observations are currently available for the Flinders River at Richmond Post Office. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river level is estimated to be above the moderate flood level and rising.
The Flinders River at Richmond Post Office may reach around 7.70 m from overnight Monday into Tuesday, with moderate flooding. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.
Cloncurry River:
River levels are easing along the Cloncurry River at Cloncurry.
The Cloncurry River at Cloncurry is currently at 2.16 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Cloncurry River at Cloncurry is likely to remain below the minor flood level (3.00 m).

Moderate rainfall over the last few days has resulted in river level rises across the upper Herbert catchment. Minor flooding is occurring at Gleneagle Homestead and is possible at Abergowrie Bridge from Monday evening.
Further showers and storms are forecast over the next few days, which may lead to further river level rises and flooding across the catchment. This warning will be updated as required.
Herbert River to Nash's Crossing:
Minor flooding is occurring at Gleneagle Homestead.
No observations are currently available for the Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river level is estimated to be above the minor flood level and rising.
The Herbert River at Gleneagle Homestead is likely to remain above the minor flood level (4.50 m) for the reminder of Monday and Tuesday. Further rises are likely with forecast rain.
Herbert River downstream of Nash's Crossing:

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT BLACKALL, AND POSSIBLE AT CAMOOLA PARK AND WINDORAH
Renewed moderate flooding is occurring along the Barcoo River at Retreat as a flood peak in the lower Barcoo River arrives. Further downstream, minor flooding is possible along the Cooper Creek at Windorah from mid-week as upstream flows arrive.
In the upper Barcoo River, moderate to heavy rainfall over the weekend has caused river level rises upstream of Isisford. Minor flooding is likely occurring along the Barcoo River at Blackall.
Rainfall and showers are possible over parts of the catchment over the next few days. This warning will be updated as required.
Thomson River:
Minor flooding is possible along the Thomson River
No observations are currently available for the Thomson River at Camoola Park.
The Thomson River at Camoola Park may exceed the minor flood level (2.00 m) during Wednesday.
Barcoo River to Isisford:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Barcoo River upstream of Isisford.

MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT WINTON FROM WEDNESDAY
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BIRDSVILLE FROM TUESDAY
River levels remain elevated along the Diamantina River, where the main flood peak is passing through Roseberth and slowly approaching Birdsville. A flood peak around the minor flood level is possible at Birdsville from Tuesday.
Heavy rainfall has been observed across the eastern part of the Western River catchment during the weekend which has led to rapid river level rises along the upper reaches of the Western River and its tributaries. Moderate flooding may develop at Winton from Wednesday, with river levels upstream at Oondooroo similar to those observed in mid-January, with river levels still rising.
Further downstream, minor flooding is occurring along the Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes.
Areas of showers and rainfall are possible over parts of the catchment for the next few days which may cause further river level rises in some areas. This warning will be updated as required.
Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
The Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes is currently at 3.06 m and rising, above the minor flood level (2.00 m) and above the level of the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road Causeway (2.10 m).
Western River:
Moderate flooding is possible along the Western River.
No observations are currently available for the Western River at Winton. Based on the observed data at upstream gauges, the river level at Winton is estimated to be below the minor flood level.
The Western River at Winton may reach around the moderate flood level (2.00 m) from Wednesday.
Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes:
Minor flooding is occurring at Roseberth. Minor flooding is possible at Birdsville.
The Diamantina River at Birdsville Police Station is currently at 3.75 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
