Moderate Flood Warning For The Diamantina River
Issued at 02:59 PM AEST on Monday 30 March 2026

NEAR MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BIRDSVILLE MID-WEEK
The flood peak has likely passed Roseberth and is approaching Birdsville where the river may reach near the moderate flood level. River levels upstream are steady at Durrie Station and easing at Monkira and Diamantina Lakes.

Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
The Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes is currently at 2.87 m and falling, above the minor flood level (2.00 m) and above the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road Causeway level (2.10 m).
Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes:
Moderate flooding is occurring at Roseberth Station. Minor flooding is occurring at Monkira, Durrie and Birdsville.
The Diamantina River at Birdsville Police Station is currently at 5.25 m and rising slowly, with minor flooding.
The Diamantina River at Birdsville Police Station may reach near the moderate flood level (6.00 m) during Wednesday.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.

FLOODING NO LONGER OCCURRING AT WALKERS BEND
River levels along the Lower Flinders River at Walkers Bend fell below the minor flood level Saturday afternoon and will remain below the minor flood level.

Flinders River downstream of Richmond:
Flooding is no longer occurring along the Flinders River downstream of Richmond.
The Flinders River at Walkers Bend is currently at 2.41 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Flinders River at Walkers Bend will remain below the minor flood level (5.00 m).
