Recent rainfall has caused river level rises and minor to major flooding along the Georgina River to Marion Downs.
At Marion Downs moderate flooding is likely from early this week, and major flooding is possible by midweek. Minor flooding is expected to continue along the Eyre Creek at Bedourie and Glengyle, with further rises possible as upstream flows arrive.

Georgina River to Marion Downs:
Moderate flooding is occurring at Roxborough Downs and Glenormiston.
No recent observations are available for the Georgina River at Marion Downs. Based on the nearby automatic gauge, the river level is estimated to be around the minor flood level (3.00 m).
The Georgina River at Marion Downs is likely to exceed the moderate flood level (4.00 m) during Tuesday 13 January. The river may exceed the major flood level (5.00 m) during Wednesday 14 January.

Eyre Creek:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Eyre Creek. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.
The Eyre Creek at Bedourie is currently at 3.68 m and steady, with minor flooding.
The Eyre Creek at Bedourie is likely to remain above the minor flood level (3.50 m) over the next few days.

No recent observations are available for the Eyre Creek at Glengyle. The river level is estimated to be above the minor flood level (2.00 m).

Major Flood Warning For The Flinders River

MAJOR FLOODING ESTIMATED TO BE OCCURRING AT WALKERS BEND
Along the upper Flinders River at Richmond, river levels have fallen below the minor flood level. Downstream, inflows from multiple tributaries are causing major flooding at Walkers Bend, where river levels are estimated to be slowly falling.
Moderate to heavy rainfall may redevelop from early this week primarily to the east of the catchment in the upper Flinders, which may cause renewed river level rises. This situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as required.

Flinders River downstream of Richmond:
Major flooding is estimated to be occurring along the Flinders River downstream of Richmond.
River level observations are not available for the Flinders River at Walkers Bend. The river level is estimated to be above the major flood level (8.00 m) and slowly falling.
The Flinders River at Walkers Bend is expected to remain above the major flood level until at least the middle of this week.

FLOODING HAS EASED AT WINTON
Recent heavy rainfall has caused river level rises and flooding across the Diamantina River catchment and its upper tributaries. Minor flooding has eased along the Western River at Winton.
Major flooding is occurring at Diamantina Lakes. An earlier flood peak is continuing to move downstream along the Diamantina River below Monkira.
Further rainfall may redevelop over the next week, with a tropical low forecast to move over northern Queensland. This may result in renewed river level rises and flooding. This situation is being closely monitored, and warnings will be updated as required

Diamantina River to Diamantina Lakes:
The Diamantina River at Diamantina Lakes is at 6.17 m and steady, above the level of the Springvale Diamantina Lakes Road Causeway (2.10 m).
Western River:
Flooding has eased along the Western River at Winton.
The water level at Winton was 1.45 m and steady at 1:45 pm Friday, below the minor flood level.
The Western River at Winton is likely to remain below the minor flood level (1.50 m).

Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes:
River level rises are occurring along the lower Diamantina River downstream of Diamantina Lakes, with a flood peak travelling downstream of Monkira.

FLOODING CONTINUING ALONG THE ALBERT RIVER AT BURKETOWN AIRSTRIP
Widespread heavy rainfall in late December and early January has caused river and creek level rises and areas of flooding across the Nicholson and Leichhardt catchments.
River levels along the Nicholson River and the Albert River at Burketown Airstrip are expected to remain elevated for the next few days.
Showers and thunderstorms are possible over the next few days, however further heavy rainfall is not expected over the weekend.
