for Heavy Rainfall

for Lockyer Valley and parts of Ipswich, Scenic Rim, Southern Downs and Toowoomba Council Areas.

Severe thunderstorm complexes producing heavy rainfall over Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley and Southern Downs this morning.

HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Ipswich, Scenic Rim, Southern Downs, Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 7:40 am, severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Toowoomba, the area southwest of Toowoomba, the area northwest of Toowoomba, Mulgowie, Highfields and the area northwest of Cunninghams Gap. These thunderstorms are moving towards the southeast. They are forecast to affect the area south of Toowoomba, Rosevale, Cambooya and Helidon by 8:10 am and Gatton, Allora, Grantham, Maryvale, Cunninghams Gap and Moogerah Dam by 8:40 am.
Cancellation for the following areas:

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Toowoomba, Gatton, Boonah, Laidley, Lowood and Oakey.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, North West, Central Highlands and Coalfields and Central West districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.
58 MM WAS RECORDED AT MARION DOWNS IN THE 30 MINUTES TO 10:13 PM.
69 mm was recorded at Giligulgul in the 1 hour to 3:30 am.
44.0 mm was recorded at Yangan (Swan Creek) in the 30 minutes to 12:00 am.
75.6 mm was recorded at Georgetown Airport in the 1 hour to 10:33 pm.
73 mm was recorded at Roxborough Downs in the 3 hours to 10:00 pm.
