Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland
for Heavy Rainfall
for Cherbourg and parts of Gympie, Somerset and South Burnett Council Areas.

Severe thunderstorms with heavy rainfall continue between Gympie and Kingaroy.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Cherbourg, Gympie, Somerset and South Burnett
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 5:05 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near the area southwest of Gympie and Elgin Vale. These thunderstorms are moving towards the northwest. They are forecast to affect the area northeast of Kingaroy and the ranges between Gympie and Murgon by 5:35 pm and Wondai, Murgon and Cherbourg by 6:05 pm.
Cancellation for the following areas:
Sunshine Coast,Moreton Bay
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast districts.
