Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland
for Giant Hailstones, Destructive Winds And Intense Rainfall
for parts of Ipswich, Somerset, South Burnett, Toowoomba, Brisbane City, Moreton Bay and Gympie Council Areas.

VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS WITH GIANT HAIL AND POSSIBLE DESTRUCTIVE WINDS AND INTENSE RAINFALL THROUGH PARTS OF THE SOUTHEAST.
GIANT HAILSTONES, DESTRUCTIVE WINDS and INTENSE RAINFALL for the following areas:
Ipswich, Gympie, Somerset, South Burnett, Toowoomba, Brisbane City and Moreton Bay
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 6:10 pm, a VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORM likely to produce large, possibly giant hailstones, damaging, locally destructive winds and heavy, locally intense rainfall that may lead to dangerous and life-threatening flash flooding was detected near Blackbutt, Linville and Yarraman. This thunderstorm is moving towards the north. It is forecast to affect Moore, Nanango and the area east of Nanango by 6:40 pm and the area northwest of Jimna and the area between Nanango and Goomeri by 7:10 pm.
Other severe thunderstorms likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Marburg and the area west of Toogoolawah. These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast to southeast. They are forecast to affect Ipswich, Amberley and Woodford by 6:40 pm and the area west of Kilcoy and Toogoolawah by 7:10 pm.
7 CM HAIL REPORTED AT YARRAMAN AT 5:40 PM.
8 CM HAIL REPORTED AT GOOGA CREEK AT 5:15PM

Emergency services advise people to:
* If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust.
* Pack away, secure or tie down outdoor furniture, toys and trampolines if it s safe to do so.
* Stay away from windows if there is giant hail.
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders, North West, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett, Southeast Coast and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 7:20 pm.
