Weather Situation
Severe storms continue about parts of the central east and southern interior in an unstable and moist environment, with a trough tracking eastwards across southern Queensland and another trough located about the central coastline.
HEAVY RAINFALL, DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES for the following areas:
Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, damaging winds and large hailstones over the next several hours in the Central Coast and Whitsundays and parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields and Capricornia districts. Locations which may be affected include St Lawrence, Marlborough, Sarina, Nebo and Eungella.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds over the next several hours in parts of the Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts. Locations which may be affected include Cunnamulla, Eulo, Barringun and Hebel.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

The next warning is due to be issued by 6:30 pm.

Minor Flood Warning For The Dawson River

RENEWED RISES AND MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BARALABA FROM THURSDAY AFTERNOON
A flood peak is moving down the Dawson River and is nearing Moura. Recent storms have also caused renewed rises in the Theodore area. Further showers and storms are forecast over the next few days, which in combination with existing flows may result in renewed river level rises and minor flooding along the Dawson River at Baralaba from Thursday afternoon.

Dawson River downstream of Theodore:
Minor flooding is possible along the Dawson River at Baralaba.
No observations are currently available for the Dawson River at Baralaba, however based on the nearby automatic gauge the river level is estimated to be below the minor flood level (4.00 m) and falling slowly.
Renewed river level rises and minor flooding (4.00 m) are possible along the Dawson River at Baralaba from Thursday afternoon as upstream peaks arrive and in combination with forecast rainfall.

Flood Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
Check the ABC and local media for updates. The situation can change quickly, so stay informed.
