for Heavy Rainfall And Damaging Winds

Severe thunderstorms about the southeast interior this afternoon.
HEAVY RAINFALL and DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Western Downs, South Burnett and Toowoomba
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:55 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and damaging winds were detected near the area east of Dalby. These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast. They are forecast to affect the ranges north of Jandowae by 5:25 pm and Jandowae by 5:55 pm.
61MM OF RAINFALL WAS RECORDED AT TERRAINE IN THE 30 MINUTES TO 11:33 AM.
47mm of rainfall was recorded at Moffatt in the 30 minutes to 4:09 pm.
55mm of rainfall was recorded at Blaxland in the 1 hour to 4:06 pm.
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Wide Bay and Burnett, Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Capricornia and Maranoa and Warrego districts.
Other warnings may be current.
The next warning is due to be issued by 6:05 pm.
