for Heavy Rainfall

for parts of Central Highlands and Coalfields and Southeast Coast Forecast Districts.

Heavy rainfall with thunderstorms across southeast Queensland this evening.

Weather Situation
A trough over central and southern areas triggers slow moving thunderstorms in a humid airmass.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Central Highlands and Coalfields and Southeast Coast
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Gold Coast, Maroochydore, Coolangatta, Caboolture, Taroom and Rolleston.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.
72 MM WAS RECORDED AT MT PLAYFAIR IN THE 60 MINUTES TO 4:58 PM
39 mm was recorded at Mooga Hills in the 30 minutes to 4:20 pm.
46 mm was recorded at Tara Lagoon in the 30 minutes to 3:27 pm.
Cancellation for the following areas:
Darling Downs and Granite Belt,Maranoa and Warrego,Wide Bay and Burnett

Heavy rainfall expected in the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast areas

HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Somerset, Scenic Rim, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 6:40 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Murwillumbah(NSW), Dayboro and Woodford. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast. They are forecast to affect Coolangatta, Caboolture and the McPherson Range by 7:10 pm and Maroochydore, Caloundra and the area southwest of Caloundra by 7:40 pm.

HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL OVER SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND FROM LATE THURSDAY EVENING.

Weather Situation
A southerly wind change will move into the South East Coast overnight Thursday into Friday morning, before stalling over southern Wide Bay and Burnett during Friday afternoon/evening. Meanwhile, an approaching mid-level trough combines with high atmospheric moisture and humid onshore flow to produce persistent rainfall over parts of the South East Coast, southern Wide Bay and Burnett and eastern Darling Downs and Granite Belt from Thursday evening.
HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL for the following areas:
Wide Bay and Burnett, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast
HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is forecast to develop about the South East Coast from late Thursday evening, extending inland to southern Wide Bay and Burnett and eastern Darling Downs and Granite Belt during Friday morning. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 50 to 90 mm are likely, with isolated higher falls to around 150 mm possible, reaching up to 200 mm near the coast.
A separate Severe Thunderstorm Warning will be issued if VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS with INTENSE RAINFALL are detected.
