VERY DANGEROUS STORM WITH GIANT HAIL IS MOVING NORTH THROUGH BRISBANE, APPROACHING CABOOLTURE.

GIANT HAILSTONES, DESTRUCTIVE WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Ipswich, Somerset, Redland City, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane City and Moreton Bay
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:25 pm, VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS likely to produce large, possibly giant hailstones, damaging, locally destructive winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Brisbane CBD, Maroochydore, Strathpine, Redcliffe and Caloundra. These thunderstorms are moving towards the north to northeast. They are forecast to affect Caboolture, Mount Nebo and Highvale by 3:55 pm and the area southwest of Caloundra, Mount Mee and Lake Somerset by 4:25 pm.
Another severe thunderstorm likely to produce large, possibly giant hailstones, damaging, locally destructive winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near northern Moreton Island, Comboyuro Point and Cape Moreton. This thunderstorm is moving towards the northeast.

* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.

Extreme heatwaves can be dangerous for everyone.
Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell.

Maximum temperatures in the low to mid forties over western and central areas with overnight minimum temperatures in the mid to high twenties.

In the east maximum temperatures in the mid thirties to low forties with overnight minimum temperatures in the low to mid twenties.

Severe to extreme heatwave conditions currently around the state are expected to intensify in the east early this week before easing from the middle of the week. Conditions in the south and west are expected to ease from the middle of the week and contract to the east.
