Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland 
for Destructive Winds, Giant Hailstones And Heavy Rainfall
for parts of Ipswich, Somerset, Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley, Noosa, Moreton Bay, Toowoomba and Sunshine Coast Council Areas.

DESTRUCTIVE WINDS, GIANT HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Ipswich, Somerset, Scenic Rim, Toowoomba, Lockyer Valley, Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Moreton Bay
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:20 pm, a VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORM likely to produce destructive winds and giant hailstones was detected near Laidley, Mulgowie and Grandchester. This thunderstorm is moving towards the southeast. It is forecast to affect Harrisville and the area south of Amberley by 3:20 pm.
 Other severe thunderstorms likely to produce large hailstones, damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Caboolture, Noosa Heads, the area northwest of Esk, waters off Noosa Heads, northern Lake Wivenhoe and Dayboro. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast. They are forecast to affect the area north of Noosa Heads, Burpengary, Beachmere and Tewantin by 2:50 pm and Deception Bay waters, Toogoolawah, Mount Mee, Bribie Island, waters off Bribie Island and northern Bribie Island by 3:20 pm.
Emergency services advise people to:
 * If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust.
 * Pack away, secure or tie down outdoor furniture, toys and trampolines if it s safe to do so.
 * Stay away from windows if there is giant hail.
 * Park your car undercover away from trees.
 * Close doors and windows.
 * Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
 * Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
 * Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
 * Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
 * Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
 * Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Wide Bay and Burnett and parts of the Capricornia, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 3:25 pm.
