Heavy falls spreading east of Rathdowney.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Scenic Rim and Gold Coast
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 8:25 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected east of Rathdowney. The thunderstorm is moving towards the east. It is forecast to affect Lamington National Park and the area south of Canungra by 8:55 pm and the McPherson Range, Springbrook and Numinbah Valley by 9:25 pm.
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts.

The next warning is due to be issued by 9:35 pm.
