Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for Damaging Winds, Large Hailstones And Heavy Rainfall
for parts of Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett Forecast Districts.

Isolated severe thunderstorms developing over the eastern Capricornia to the Wide Bay area.
Weather Situation
Moderate instability is in place over parts of southeast and central Queensland this afternoon near a surface trough, and this will combine with strong winds in the upper atmosphere to provide a favourable environment for the development of isolated severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.
DAMAGING WINDS, LARGE HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Capricornia and Wide Bay and Burnett
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Gladstone, Rockhampton, Maryborough, Yeppoon, Calliope and Mount Morgan.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Southeast Coast district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
The next warning is due to be issued by 7:35 pm.
