for Giant Hailstones And Destructive Winds
for Logan, Redland City, Brisbane City and parts of Ipswich, Scenic Rim, Gold Coast and Moreton Bay Council Areas.

SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS WITH POSSIBLE GIANT HAIL MOVING THROUGH THE IPSWICH AND JIMBOOMBA AREAS.
GIANT HAILSTONES and DESTRUCTIVE WINDS for the following areas:
Ipswich, Logan, Scenic Rim, Gold Coast, Redland City, Brisbane City and Moreton Bay
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:05 pm, VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS likely to produce large, possibly giant hailstones and damaging, locally destructive winds were detected near Jimboomba, Bundamba Lagoon, Greenbank and Redbank Plains. These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast. They are forecast to affect Brisbane CBD, Beenleigh, Logan Central and Cleveland by 4:35 pm and Strathpine, Redcliffe and Macleay Island by 5:05 pm.
Emergency services advise people to:
* If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust.
* Pack away, secure or tie down outdoor furniture, toys and trampolines if it s safe to do so.
* Stay away from windows if there is giant hail.
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Southeast Coast and parts of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 5:15 pm.
