Major Flood Warning For The Cape River, Upper Burdekin And Lower Burdekin Rivers And Moderate Flood Warning For The Suttor River

MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT INKERMAN BRIDGE OVERNIGHT SUNDAY INTO MONDAY
MAJOR FLOODING CONTINUING AT SELLHEIM (MACROSSAN BRIDGE) AND TAEMAS
Recent heavy rainfall has resulted in river level rises along the Burdekin, Cape, Belyando and Suttor Rivers.
River level rises are occurring along the Cape River, where a major flood peak is likely to pass through Taemas on Sunday. River level rises are also occurring along the Belyando and Suttor Rivers. A moderate flood peak is likely to pass through St Anns Sunday night into Monday.
River level rises are occurring along the Burdekin River where major flooding continues at Sellheim. Moderate flooding is occurring at Burdekin Dam, Dalbeg, Clare and Inkerman Bridge. Major flooding is possible at Inkerman Bridge overnight Sunday into Monday.
Predictions for the lower Burdekin will be revised once the peak at Burdekin Falls Dam has been observed.
Further rainfall and thunderstorms are forecast over the next few days. A Severe Weather Warning is current for parts of the North Tropical Coast and Tablelands and Herbert and Lower Burdekin Forecast Districts.
The flood situation is being closely monitored and forecasts and warnings will be updated as required.
Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Moderate flooding is occurring along the Belyando and Suttor Rivers to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Suttor River at St Anns is currently at 6.90 metres and rising, with moderate flooding.
A moderate peak is likely in the Suttor River at St Anns overnight Sunday into Monday.
Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Major flooding is occurring along the Cape River to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Cape River at Taemas is currently at 8.31 metres and rising, with major flooding.
A major peak is expected in the Cape River at Taemas during Sunday.
Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam:
Major flooding is likely along the Burdekin River to Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin River at Sellheim peaked at 17.28 metres around 12:31 pm Saturday 08 February and is currently at 14.95 metres and falling, just below the major flood level (15.00 m).
Renewed river level rises along the Burdekin River at Sellheim are expected to exceed the major flood level (15.00 m) during Sunday morning. River levels may reach around 16.70 metres Sunday afternoon. Further rises are possible with forecast rain, however any further river levels are not expected to reach the levels seen earlier this month.
The Burdekin River at Burdekin Dam is currently at 5.88 metres and steady, with moderate flooding.
The Burdekin River at Burdekin Dam may reach around 6.30 metres early Sunday, with moderate flooding. Further rises possible with forecast rain.
Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam:
Major flooding may occur along the Burdekin River downstream of Burdekin Falls Dam.
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg is currently at 17.58 metres and rising, with moderate flooding.
The Burdekin River at Dalbeg may reach around 18.20 metres Sunday morning, with moderate flooding. Further rises possible with forecast rain.
The Burdekin River at Clare is currently at 14.70 metres and steady, above the moderate flood level (13.00 m).
The Burdekin River at Clare may reach around 15.50 metres Sunday evening, with moderate flooding. Further rises possible with forecast rain.
The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge (manual gauge) was at 11.05 metres at 06:00pm and rising slowly, above the moderate flood level (10.00 m).
The Burdekin River at Inkerman Bridge may reach the major flood level (12.00 m) overnight Sunday into Monday.
