Weather Situation
Severe thunderstorms are continuing across broad parts of the state in a very moist airmass.
HEAVY RAINFALL, DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES for the following areas:
Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts. Locations which may be affected include Gympie, Emerald, Kingaroy, Biloela, Carnarvon National Park and Woorabinda.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Southeast Coast district. Locations which may be affected include Gold Coast, Coolangatta, Beaudesert, Mount Tamborine and Springbrook.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the North West district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.
117.5 mm WAS RECORDED AT CANIA DAM IN THE 3 HOURS TO 5:48 AM.
119.0 mm WAS RECORDED AT BLUE HILLS IN THE 6 HOURS TO 7:59 AM.
68 mm was recorded at Sardine Creek in the 1 hour to 11:24 am.
85.0 mm was recorded at Caniaview the 3 hours to 5:42 am.
52 mm was recorded at Ravensbourne in 1 hour to 9:45 am.
Cancellation for the following areas:
North West

Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.

The next warning is due to be issued by 5:20 pm.

MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE AT ESSENDEAN BRIDGE FRIDAY MORNING
MINOR FLOODING LIKELY AT BUCCA WEIR THURSDAY MORNING
Heavy rainfall has been observed across the Kolan River and Baffle Creek catchments over the last few days resulting in river and creek level rises. Moderate flooding is possible along Baffle Creek at Essendean Bridge from Friday morning. Minor flooding is likely at Bucca Weir from Thursday morning.

Kolan River:
Minor flooding is likely along the Kolan River at Bucca Weir.
The Kolan River at Bucca Weir is currently at 17.02 m AHD and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Kolan River at Bucca Weir is likely to reach around the minor flood level (17.50 m AHD) Thursday morning.

Baffle Creek:
Moderate flooding is possible along the Baffle Creek at Essendean Bridge.
The Baffle Creek at Essendean Bridge is currently at 2.27 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Baffle Creek at Essendean Bridge is likely to exceed the minor flood level (5.00 m) overnight Thursday into Friday. The creek may reach around the moderate flood level (6.20 m) Friday morning.
