Severe Weather Warning
for Heavy Rainfall
for parts of North Tropical Coast and Tablelands and Herbert and Lower Burdekin Forecast Districts.
Issued at 4:20 pm Tuesday, 30 December 2025.
Heavy rainfall continues about the northeast coast, becoming more likely overnight and early tomorrow morning.
Weather Situation
Areas of converging enhanced onshore winds over the north tropical coast may redevelop today, most likely this evening, bringing the risk of heavy rainfall.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
North Tropical Coast and Tablelands and Herbert and Lower Burdekin
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING may redevelop about the coast and adjacent inland areas from about Townsville to Yarrabah, becoming more likely this evening and overnight. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 100 to 180 mm are likely, with isolated falls in excess of 220 mm possible.
Locally intense rainfall leading to dangerous and potentially life-threatening flash flooding is considered less likely than previous days, but can't be ruled out completely about the northeast tropical coast, mainly during the early morning.
A separate Severe Weather Warning is current for northwestern Queensland. Flood Watches and Flood Warnings are current for Northern Queensland. Please refer to https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and-climate/warnings-and-alerts for more information.

* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
