Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland 
for Destructive Winds, Giant Hailstones And Heavy Rainfall
for parts of Gympie, Southern Downs, Western Downs, South Burnett and Scenic Rim Council Areas.

POSSIBLE GIANT HAIL AND DESTRUCTIVE WINDS IN SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER INLAND SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND IN THE NEXT FEW HOURS.
DESTRUCTIVE WINDS, GIANT HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Gympie, Scenic Rim, Southern Downs, Western Downs and South Burnett
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 6:35 pm, a VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORM likely to produce destructive winds and giant hailstones was detected near the area southeast of Warwick, the area east of Warwick and the area northeast of Warwick. This thunderstorm is moving towards the southeast. It is forecast to affect Killarney and Murray Bridge by 7:05 pm.
 Other severe thunderstorms likely to produce large hailstones, damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near the ranges north of Jandowae and the area north of Kilkivan. These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast. They are forecast to affect the ranges between Gympie and Murgon by 7:05 pm and the area northwest of Kingaroy, Boondooma, Lake Boondooma, the area south of Lake Boondooma and the area northwest of Lake Boondooma by 7:35 pm.
 3 TO 7 CM HAIL REPORTED AT REDCLIFFE APPROXIMATELY 3:00 PM.
 5 TO 7 CM HAIL REPORTED AT LAIDLEY CREEK AT APPROXIMATELY 2:30 PM.
 4 cm hail reported from Nanango at 5:25 pm
 3 cm hail reported at Peregian at 2:05 pm.
 4 cm hail reported near Gatton at 1:50 pm.
Emergency services advise people to:
 * If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust.
 * Pack away, secure or tie down outdoor furniture, toys and trampolines if it s safe to do so.
 * Stay away from windows if there is giant hail.
 * Park your car undercover away from trees.
 * Close doors and windows.
 * Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
 * Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
 * Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
 * Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
 * Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
 * Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Wide Bay and Burnett, Southeast Coast and parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Maranoa and Warrego districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 7:45 pm.
