DANGEROUS STORMS WITH GIANT HAIL OCCURRING IN THE SOUTHEAST

Weather Situation
A humid and unstable airmass is in place with a southeasterly wind change moving through the southeast. Severe thunderstorms are moving to the north and are expected to continue throughout the afternoon and evening.
LARGE, POSSIBLY GIANT HAILSTONES, DAMAGING, LOCALLY DESTRUCTIVE WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett and Southeast Coast
VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS are likely to produce large, possibly giant hailstones, damaging, locally destructive winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in parts of the Southeast Coast and Wide Bay and Burnett districts. Locations which may be affected include Brisbane, Maroochydore, Cleveland, Caboolture, Noosa Heads and Moreton Island.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding over the next several hours in the Southeast Coast and parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett and Capricornia districts. Locations which may be affected include Gold Coast, Gympie, Ipswich, Gatton, and Jimboomba.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Darling Downs and Granite Belt district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED.

GIANT HAILSTONES, DESTRUCTIVE WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Gympie, Somerset, Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Brisbane City and Moreton Bay
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:55 pm, VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS likely to produce large, possibly giant hailstones, damaging, locally destructive winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Redcliffe, Caboolture and Noosa Heads. These thunderstorms are moving towards the north. They are forecast to affect Caloundra, the area southwest of Caloundra and waters off Caloundra by 4:25 pm and Rainbow Beach, Peachester and Crohamhurst by 4:55 pm.
Other severe thunderstorms likely to produce large hailstones, damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Upper Brookfield, Highvale and Landsborough. These thunderstorms are moving towards the north to northeast. They are forecast to affect Maroochydore, waters off Maroochydore and the area southwest of Gympie by 4:25 pm and Coolum Beach and the area north of Gympie by 4:55 pm.
