Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland
for Heavy Rainfall And Damaging Winds
for Ipswich and parts of Logan, Somerset, Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley, Brisbane City and Moreton Bay Council Areas.

HEAVY RAINFALL and DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Ipswich, Logan, Somerset, Scenic Rim, Lockyer Valley, Brisbane City and Moreton Bay
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 4:30 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding and damaging winds was detected near Laidley. This thunderstorm is moving towards the northeast. It is forecast to affect the area south of Esk and Harrisville by 5:00 pm and Ipswich and Bundamba Lagoon by 5:30 pm.
49mm of rainfall was recorded at Campbells Gully (Warwick) in the 30 minutes to 3:01 pm, 65mm in the 1 hour to 3:32 pm.
Cancellation for the following areas:
Dalby,South Burnett,Toowoomba
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Wide Bay and Burnett, Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Southeast Coast and Central Highlands and Coalfields districts.
Other warnings may be current.
The next warning is due to be issued by 5:40 pm.
