Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland
for Damaging Winds, Large Hailstones And Heavy Rainfall
for parts of Somerset, Scenic Rim, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay and South Burnett Council Areas.

Severe thunderstorms developing through the Scenic Rim.
DAMAGING WINDS, LARGE HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Somerset, Scenic Rim, South Burnett, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:15 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Murwillumbah(NSW), Springbrook and Moore. These thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast. They are forecast to affect Coolangatta, Numinbah Valley and Little Nerang Dam by 2:45 pm and Miami, Mudgeeraba and Nerang by 3:15 pm.
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Burnett, Maranoa and Warrego, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts.
Other warnings may be current.
The next warning is due to be issued by 3:25 pm.
