Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland
for Damaging Winds, Large Hailstones And Heavy Rainfall
for parts of Cherbourg, Gympie, South Burnett, Noosa and Brisbane City Council Areas.

Severe thunderstorms continue to move north through the Sunshine Coast and along the coast of Moreton Island.
DAMAGING WINDS, LARGE HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Cherbourg, Gympie, South Burnett, Noosa and Brisbane City
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 5:15 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near Pomona, waters off Noosa Heads, the ranges between Gympie and Murgon and the area north of Noosa Heads. These thunderstorms are moving towards the north to northeast. They are forecast to affect Gympie, the area southeast of Gympie and the area east of Gympie by 5:45 pm and the area northeast of Gympie, the area northwest of Gympie and Cape Moreton by 6:15 pm.
Emergency services advise people to:
* Park your car undercover away from trees.
* Close doors and windows.
* Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
* Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
* Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
* Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
* Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
* Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Wide Bay and Burnett and parts of the Central Coast and Whitsundays, Central Highlands and Coalfields, Central West, Capricornia, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Southeast Coast districts.
Other warnings may be current.
The next warning is due to be issued by 6:20 pm.
