Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland 
for Destructive Winds, Giant Hailstones And Heavy Rainfall
for parts of Gympie, Somerset, Southern Downs, Western Downs, South Burnett, Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley Council Areas.

POSSIBLE GIANT HAIL AND DESTRUCTIVE WINDS IN SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS OVER SOUTHEAST QUEENSLAND IN THE NEXT FEW HOURS.
DESTRUCTIVE WINDS, GIANT HAILSTONES and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Gympie, Somerset, Southern Downs, Western Downs, South Burnett, Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 5:20 pm, VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORMS likely to produce destructive winds and giant hailstones were detected near the area southwest of Gympie, the ranges between Gympie and Murgon and the area east of Nanango. These thunderstorms are moving towards the north to northeast. They are forecast to affect Elgin Vale and the area northwest of Jimna by 5:50 pm and the area northwest of Gympie, Borumba Dam, the Amamoor Range northwest of Kenilworth and the area north of Gympie by 6:20 pm.
 Other severe thunderstorms likely to produce large hailstones, damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near the area southeast of Dalby, the area east of Dalby, Kincora, Bowenville, Blackbutt and Yarraman. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast. They are forecast to affect Allora, Pittsworth, the area northwest of Warwick, the area southwest of Toowoomba, the area northeast of Dalby and Felton by 5:50 pm and Toowoomba, Jimna, the area northeast of Warwick, the area north of Warwick, the area northwest of Toowoomba and Highfields by 6:20 pm.
 3 TO 7 CM HAIL REPORTED AT REDCLIFFE APPROXIMATELY 3:00 PM.
 5 TO 7 CM HAIL REPORTED AT LAIDLEY CREEK AT APPROXIMATELY 2:30 PM.
 4 cm hail reported from Nanango at 5:25 pm
 3 cm hail reported at Peregian at 2:05 pm.
 4 cm hail reported near Gatton at 1:50 pm.

Emergency services advise people to:
 * If you have children make sure they are with you or an adult you trust.
 * Pack away, secure or tie down outdoor furniture, toys and trampolines if it s safe to do so.
 * Stay away from windows if there is giant hail.
 * Park your car undercover away from trees.
 * Close doors and windows.
 * Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
 * Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
 * Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
 * Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
 * Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
 * Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Wide Bay and Burnett, Southeast Coast and parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Maranoa and Warrego districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 6:30 pm.
