Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland 
for Large Hailstones, Damaging Winds And Heavy Rainfall
for Cherbourg and parts of Gympie, Scenic Rim, Southern Downs and South Burnett Council Areas.

LARGE HAILSTONES, DAMAGING WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Cherbourg, Gympie, Scenic Rim, Southern Downs and South Burnett
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 7:25 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce large hailstones, damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding were detected near the area northwest of Kingaroy, the area northeast of Kingaroy, the area south of Cunninghams Gap, the area north of Kingaroy, the area east of Murgon and the area south of Lake Boondooma. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast. They are forecast to affect Proston, the ranges between Gympie and Murgon, Mount Barney, Wondai, Murgon and Cherbourg by 7:55 pm and Kilkivan, the area north of Lake Boondooma and the area northeast of Lake Boondooma by 8:25 pm.
 3 TO 7 CM HAIL REPORTED AT REDCLIFFE APPROXIMATELY 3:00 PM.
 5 TO 7 CM HAIL REPORTED AT LAIDLEY CREEK AT APPROXIMATELY 2:30 PM.
 4 cm hail reported from Nanango at 5:25 pm
 3 cm hail reported at Peregian at 2:05 pm.
 4 cm hail reported near Gatton at 1:50 pm.

Emergency services advise people to:
 * Park your car undercover away from trees.
 * Close doors and windows.
 * Keep asthma medications close by. Storms and wind can trigger asthma attacks.
 * Charge mobile phones and power banks in case the power goes out.
 * Put your pets somewhere safe and make sure they can be identified in case they get lost.
 * Do not drive now unless you have to because conditions are dangerous.
 * Tell friends, family and neighbours in the area.
 * Go inside a strong building now. Stay inside until the storm has passed.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Wide Bay and Burnett, Southeast Coast and parts of the Central Highlands and Coalfields, Capricornia, Darling Downs and Granite Belt and Maranoa and Warrego districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 8:30 pm.
