HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL THROUGH EASTERN PARTS OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA
Weather Situation
A low pressure system located near Oodnadatta is steadily moving southwards. An extremely humid tropical airmass is wrapping around the eastern and southern flank of this low, extending into central and southern parts of the state. A trough over southern SA will interact with the tropical airmass today, increasing the risk of heavy, locally intense falls, particularly during the late hours of Sunday.
HEAVY, LOCALLY INTENSE RAINFALL for the following areas:
Adelaide Metropolitan, Mount Lofty Ranges, West Coast, Lower Eyre Peninsula, Eastern Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, Flinders, Mid North, Kangaroo Island, Riverland, Murraylands, Upper South East, Lower South East, North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is likely about northern and eastern parts of the state today. Six hourly rainfall totals between 40 to 60 mm are possible about central and eastern parts today.
Locally INTENSE RAINFALL which may lead to DANGEROUS AND LIFE-THREATENING FLASH FLOODING is possible in the eastern part of the state. A more localised risk also exists with any thunderstorm elsewhere given the very high moisture levels. Six-hourly rainfall totals between 60 to 100 mm are possible today.
Flood Watches and Warnings are current for the area. Please refer to https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and-climate/warnings-and-alerts/ for more information.
Locations which may be affected include Adelaide, Whyalla, Renmark, Mount Gambier, Port Augusta and Port Pirie.
58.4 mm was recorded at Yunta in the 6 hours to 4:45 am this morning.
46.2 mm of rainfall was recorded at Naracoorte in the 6 hours to 1:45 pm.
41.4 mm of rainfall was recorded at Cape Jaffa in the 6 hours to 1:29 pm.
51 mm of rainfall was recorded at Robe in the 6 hours to 1:19 pm.
40.8 mm of rainfall was recorded at Snowtown in the 6 hours to 12:00 pm.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water;
