FLOODWATERS ARRIVING AT KATI THANDA-LAKE EYRE
Along the Warburton River at Poothapoota Waterhole, river levels remain elevated and continue to fall slowly. Flows from the Warburton River are arriving in northern parts of Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre. Flows into Kati Thanda-Lake Eyre will continue for several weeks.
Along Cooper Creek at Walkers Crossing and Coongie Lakes, creek levels remain elevated and continue to fall slowly.
Floodwaters may cut roads and access tracks, and in particular river crossings, impacting travel in the region.
Flood Warnings are current for Eyre Creek, the Diamantina River, and Cooper Creek in Queensland.
Warburton:
River levels remain elevated along the Warburton River at Poothapoota Waterhole following a peak around Thursday 24 April. Currently, river levels are around 6.05 m and falling slowly.
Cooper Creek:
Creek levels remain elevated along Cooper Creek at Cullyamurra Waterhole, where the creek is currently at 8.00 m metres and falling slowly. It is estimated that the water level at Innamincka remains many metres above the causeway.
