for Heavy Rainfall
for North East Pastoral and parts of North West Pastoral districts.
Issued at 4:43 am Sunday, 8 February 2026.
Heavy rainfall to redevelop about the North East Pastoral district later today and into Monday.
Weather Situation
A humid tropical airmass lies over northern parts of South Australia. Widespread areas of rain and isolated thunderstorms forced by a series of troughs will tap into this moisture, bringing areas of heavy rainfall over the next few days.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
North West Pastoral and North East Pastoral
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is expected to redevelop from early this afternoon about the North East Pastoral district and adjacent parts of the North West Pastoral district. Six-hour rainfall totals between 20 and 50 mm are likely, with localised totals up to 80 mm possible with thunderstorm activity.
Conditions should ease in western parts of the warning area from late Sunday evening, but heavy falls may continue about the northeast during Monday.
Flood warnings are current for the far northeast of the state. Please refer to https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and-climate/warnings-and-alerts
Flash flooding may make roads impassable through northeastern parts of the state.
Locations which may be affected include Moomba, Oodnadatta, Marree, Dalhousie Springs, Arkaroola and the area east of Lake Frome.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Don't drive, ride or walk through flood water;
