Warning to Sheep Graziers

for South East forecast district

Warning to Sheep Graziers for the following areas:
South East forecast district
Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, showers and strong westerly winds are expected during Tuesday. Areas likely to be affected include parts of the South East forecast district. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.

The next warning will be issued by 5:00 pm EDT Tuesday.

Severe Weather Warning
for Damaging Winds

for parts of Western, Upper Derwent Valley and South East Forecast Districts.

Issued at 8:38 am Tuesday, 14 October 2025.

Damaging winds developing about elevated terrain and lee slopes in the south from late this evening.

Weather Situation
A burst of westerlies over the south of the state will interact with topography and drive damaging winds about peaks and lee slopes late this evening and during the early hours of Wednesday morning.
DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Western, Upper Derwent Valley and South East
DAMAGING WESTERLY WINDS averaging 55 to 65 km/h with peak gusts of around 110 km/h are possible for elevated peaks and lee slopes in the southern parts of the state from late this evening and into Wednesday morning.
Winds are expected to ease by late Wednesday morning.
Locations which may be affected include Geeveston, Dover and Huonville.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
* Manage pets and livestock.
* Secure outdoor items including furniture and play equipment.
* Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to TasNetworks on 132 004.
* Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when driving.
* Listen to the ABC radio or check www.ses.tas.gov.au for further advice.
* For emergency assistance contact the SES on 132500.

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm AEDT Tuesday.
Warnings are also available through TV and Radio broadcasts, the Bureau's website at www.bom.gov.au or call 1300 659 210. The Bureau and State Emergency Service would appreciate warnings being broadcast regularly.
