Damaging winds persisting in the wake of a vigorous cold front early this morning
Weather Situation
A vigorous frontal system moved across Tasmania on Friday resulting in widespread damaging winds. The risk of damaging winds remains about northeastern Tasmania in the wake of the cold front early this morning.
DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
North East and East Coast
DAMAGING WINDS averaging 55 to 65 km/h with peak gusts around 100 km/h are possible early this morning in the northeast.
Winds are expected to ease below warning thresholds later this morning, but will remain gusty.
Locations which may be affected include St Helens, Scamander, Bicheno, Fingal, Larapuna and Friendly Beaches.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Western, Upper Derwent Valley, South East, North West Coast, Central North, Central Plateau and Midlands districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Supervise children closely.
* Check that family and neighbours are aware of warnings.
* Manage pets and livestock.
* Secure outdoor items including furniture and play equipment.
* Be prepared in case of power outages and report any outages to TasNetworks on 132 004.
* Beware of damaged trees and power lines and take care when driving.
* Listen to the ABC radio or check www.ses.tas.gov.au for further advice.

The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 11:00 am AEDT Saturday.
