Damaging winds persisting in the wake of a vigorous cold front crossing Tasmania

Weather Situation
A vigorous frontal system moved across Tasmania today resulting in widespread damaging winds. The risk of damaging winds remains about northeastern, central and southwestern Tasmania, which will gradually ease into early Saturday.
DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Western, Upper Derwent Valley, South East, North East, East Coast, North West Coast, Central North, Central Plateau and Midlands
DAMAGING WINDS averaging 55 to 65 km/h with peak gusts around 100 km/h are possible this evening and early Saturday. For elevated and exposed areas, DAMAGING WINDS may average 65 to 75 km/h with peak gusts around 115 km/h.
Winds are expected to ease below warning thresholds early Saturday morning, but will remain gusty.
Locations which may be affected include St Helens, Strahan, Bicheno, Bridport, Fingal, Friendly Beaches and Strathgordon.

MODERATE FLOODING MAY OCCUR AT BELOW MEADOWBANK DAM SATURDAY MORNING WITH FORECAST RAINFALL
MINOR FLOODING IS POSSIBLE AT MACQUARIE PLAINS AND NEW NORFOLK FROM SATURDAY MORNING WITH FORECAST RAINFALL
Moderate rainfall totals were recorded over the Derwent River catchment during Thursday and Friday morning. Further rainfall forecast for the remainder of Friday and into Saturday. Minor flooding is expected at Below Meadowbank Dam from late Friday afternoon, with moderate flooding possible Saturday morning. Minor flooding may also occur at Macquarie Plains and New Norfolk Saturday morning.

Styx River:
Minor flooding is expected along the Styx River from Friday afternoon.
River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam:
Moderate flooding may occur along the River Derwent below Meadowbank Dam. Minor flooding is possible at Macquarie Plains.
The Derwent River below Meadowbank Dam is currently at 1.92 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Derwent River below Meadowbank Dam is expected to exceed the minor flood level (4.10 m) from late Friday afternoon. The river may reach around the moderate flood level (6.10 m) Saturday morning with forecast rainfall.

The Derwent River at Macquarie Plains is currently at 0.83 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Derwent River at Macquarie Plains may reach around the minor flood level (4.00 m) Saturday morning with forecast rainfall.

River Derwent around New Norfolk:
Minor flooding is possible along the River Derwent at New Norfolk.
The Derwent River at New Norfolk is currently at 0.66 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Derwent River at New Norfolk may exceed the minor flood level (2.00 m) Saturday morning. The river may reach around 2.30 m Saturday afternoon, with forecast rainfall.

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT TAHUNE BRIDGE AND POSSIBLE AT JUDBURY AND HUONVILLE FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON
Heavy to moderate rainfall over the Huon River catchment has resulted in river level rises. Minor flooding is occurring at Tahune Bridge and possible at Judbury and Huonville from Friday afternoon, with forecast rainfall. Further showers and areas of locally heavy falls are possible for the remainder of Friday into Saturday.

Huon River - Tahune to Judbury:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Huon River Tahune to Judbury.
The Huon River at Tahune Bridge is currently at 4.19 m AHD and rising, with minor flooding.
The Huon River at Tahune Bridge may reach around 4.40 m AHD Friday afternoon, with minor flooding.

The Huon River at Judbury is currently at 3.32 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
The Huon River at Judbury may reach around the minor flood level (4.00 m) Friday afternoon.

Huon River around Huonville:
Minor flooding is possible along the Huon River around Huonville.
The Huon River at Huonville is currently at 2.60 m and rising, below the minor flood level.
