Initial Flood Warning For The Latrobe River

MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING IN THE MOE AND MORWELL RIVERS
River level rises have been observed and minor flooding is occurring along the Moe and Morwell River catchments.
In the 24 hours to10:00pm Sunday, rainfall totals of up to 70 mm have been recorded in the Latrobe River catchment. Further widespread rainfall totals of 10-15 mm is forecast overnight Sunday into Monday.
Moe River:
Minor flooding is occurring in the Moe River catchment.
The Moe River at Darnum exceeded the minor flood level (3.5 metres) Sunday evening. The river level is currently at 3.70 metres and rising, with minor flooding.
Morwell River:
Minor flooding is occurring in the Morwell River catchment.
The Morwell River at Boolarra exceeded the minor flood level (2.6 metres) Sunday evening. The river level is currently at 2.61 metres and rising, with minor flooding.
Flood Safety Advice:
SES advises that all community members should:
Never walk, ride or drive through floodwater,
Never allow children to play in floodwater,
Stay away from waterways and stormwater drains during and after heavy rain,
Keep well clear of fallen power lines
Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks, and heavy rainfall increases the potential for landslides and debris across roads.}
