Cancellation Of Severe Thunderstorm Warning

for East Gippsland, Northern Country, North East and West and South Gippsland Forecast Districts.

Weather Situation
A blustery front and trough move through the state this evening, but the risk of damaging winds with showers and thunderstorms has eased.
cancellation of severe thunderstorm warning for the following areas:
East Gippsland, Northern Country, North East and West and South Gippsland
This warning is now cancelled.
93 km/h gust was observed at Eildon Fire Tower at 4:58 pm.
98 km/h gust was observed at Puckapunyal Lyon Hill (Defence) at 4:05 pm.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Stay away from fallen powerlines - always assume they are live.
* Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.

No further warnings will be issued for this event.

Fire Weather Warning

for Central, Mallee, North Central, North East, Northern Country, West and South Gippsland and Wimmera fire weather districts

Issued at 04:52 AM EDT on Wednesday 11 February 2026

Weather Situation
Hot to very hot and dry north to northwesterly winds will freshen later Wednesday morning and drive extreme fire dangers over much of Victoria. A cooler and gusty west to southwesterly change will develop over the southwest by midday, then extend northeastwards across the remainder of the State during Wednesday afternoon and evening.

For the rest of Wednesday 11 February:
Extreme Fire Danger for the following areas:
Central, Mallee, North Central, North East, Northern Country, West and South Gippsland and Wimmera

The CFA advises that you:
Action your Bushfire Survival Plan now.
Monitor the fire and weather situation through ABC Local Radio, commercial and designated community radio stations, or Sky News TV, www.emergency.vic.gov.au and www.bom.gov.au.
Call 000 (Triple Zero) in an emergency.
