Severe thunderstorms have eased over outer western and northern areas of the Melbourne metropolitan area.

* Stay away from fallen powerlines - always assume they are live.
* Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees.
