Fire Weather Warning

for Central, Mallee, North Central, South West and Wimmera fire weather districts

Weather Situation
Hot to very hot and dry conditions, with fresh and gusty north to northwesterly winds in the north, central and western parts of the state ahead of a south to southwesterly change entering the west in the late afternoon and reaching the Central district late at night.

For the rest of Tuesday 27 January:

The CFA advises that you:
Action your Bushfire Survival Plan now.
Monitor the fire and weather situation through ABC Local Radio, commercial and designated community radio stations, or Sky News TV, www.emergency.vic.gov.au and www.bom.gov.au.

Overnight minimum temperatures in the high teens to mid twenties over the north of the state, and in the low teens to around twenty in the south.

Severe to extreme heatwave conditions will persist for an extended period, peaking on Tuesday and Wednesday, before gradually easing from the southwest later in the week and over the weekend.

Severe heatwave conditions are no longer expected over the South West and Central districts, however low intensity heatwave conditions will persist in these districts until later in the week. Locations likely to be impacted include Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, Echuca, Horsham, Kerang, Mildura, Maryborough, Shepparton, Swan Hill and Wangaratta.
