MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT THE GORGE FROM FRIDAY EVENING, WITH RISES TO MODERATE FLOOD LEVELS POSSIBLE OVERNIGHT FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY
MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT WEERAGUA
Rainfall observed overnight Thursday and during Friday is leading to river level rises across the Cann, Genoa and Bemm River catchments. Further rainfall is forecast for the remainder of Friday, however the risk of heavy rainfall has eased.
Moderate flooding has peaked at Weeragua Friday afternoon, where minor flooding is now occurring. Minor flooding is possible along the Genoa River at The Gorge from Friday evening, with rises to the moderate flood level possible overnight Friday into Saturday.

Bemm River:
River levels are elevated along the Bemm River.
Cann River:
Minor flooding is occurring along the Cann River.
The Cann River at Chandlers Creek is currently at 1.44 m and falling, below the minor flood level.
The Cann River at Chandlers Creek is likely to remain below the minor flood level (2.00 m).

The Cann River at Weeragua is currently at 3.08 m and falling, with minor flooding.
The Cann River at Weeragua may remain above the minor flood level (3.00 m) overnight Friday into Saturday.

Genoa River:
Moderate flooding is possible along the Genoa River.
The Genoa River at The Gorge is currently at 0.79 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Genoa River at The Gorge may exceed the minor flood level (1.90 m) Friday evening. The river may reach around the moderate flood level (2.20 m) overnight Friday into Saturday.

Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.

Warning to Sheep Graziers for the following areas:
Central and East Gippsland forecast districts
Sheep graziers are warned that cold temperatures, rain and showers and southwesterly winds are expected during Friday and Saturday. Areas likely to be affected include the East Gippsland forecast district and parts of the Central forecast district. There is a risk of losses of lambs and sheep exposed to these conditions.
Cancellation of Warning to Sheep Graziers for the following areas:
Mallee, Wimmera, Northern Country, North Central, North East, South West and West and South Gippsland forecast districts
The Warning to Sheep Graziers for the Mallee, Wimmera, Northern Country, North Central, North East, South West and West and South Gippsland forecast districts has been cancelled.

for parts of East Gippsland, North East and West and South Gippsland Forecast Districts.

Damaging southerly winds continue in the east, heavy rainfall and blizzard conditions have eased.

Weather Situation
A vigorous coastal low located offshore the southern NSW coast continues to move further away from Victoria, leading to an easing of severe conditions over some parts of the east. Damaging southerly winds are still expected to persist about the far east and alpine areas however, though heavy rainfall and blizzard conditions are no longer expected as the moisture decreases. The low will move further offshore later today, leading to a complete easing of damaging winds across the state later this evening or early Saturday morning.
DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
East Gippsland, North East and West and South Gippsland
DAMAGING SOUTHERLY WIND GUSTS with peak gusts of around 100 km/h are occurring and expected to continue over parts of East Gippsland into the early evening.
For ALPINE areas above 1600m: DAMAGING SOUTHERLY WINDS averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of around 110 km/h are currently occurring, though peak gusts are expected to decrease to around 100 km/h by the early evening.
Heavy rainfall and blizzard conditions are no longer expected. Damaging winds are expected to ease below warning thresholds about East Gippsland during the evening, though may persist about the alpine areas until the late evening or early Saturday morning.

111 km/h gust at Falls Creek at 11:47 pm.
113 km/h gust at Gabo Island at 10:13 am.
118 km/h gust at Mallacoota at 10:07 am.

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* If driving conditions are dangerous, safely pull over away from trees, drains, low-lying areas and floodwater. Avoid travel if possible.
* Stay safe by avoiding dangerous hazards, such as floodwater, mud, debris, damaged roads and fallen trees.
* Be aware - heat, fire or recent storms may make trees unstable and more likely to fall when it's windy or wet.
* Check that loose items, such as outdoor settings, umbrellas and trampolines are safely secured. Move vehicles under cover or away from trees.
* Stay indoors and away from windows.
* If outdoors, move to a safe place indoors. Stay away from trees, drains, gutters, creeks and waterways.
* Stay away from fallen powerlines - always assume they are live.
* Be aware that in fire affected areas, rainfall run-off into waterways may contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks. Heavy rainfall may also increase the potential for landslides and debris across roads.
* Stay informed: Monitor weather warnings, forecasts and river levels at the Bureau of Meteorology website, and warnings through VicEmergency website/app/hotline.

Minor Flood Warning For The Snowy River

MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BASIN CREEK AND JARRAHMOND FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON
A coastal low has developed offshore of the southern New South Wales coast, which has brought moderate rainfall totals overnight Thursday, and will continue to bring moderate to heavy rainfall across the Snowy River catchment during Friday. Minor flooding is possible at Basin Creek from Friday afternoon, and at Jarrahmond from Friday evening.
A Severe Weather Warning for Heavy Rainfall is current for East Gippsland.

Snowy River downstream of McKillops Bridge:
Minor flooding possible along the Snowy River downstream of McKillops Bridge.
The Snowy River at Basin Creek is currently at 2.09 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Snowy River at Basin Creek may exceed the minor flood level (3.50 m) Friday afternoon, with forecast rainfall. Further rises are possible.

The Snowy River at Jarrahmond is currently at 1.13 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Snowy River at Jarrahmond may exceed the minor flood level (4.10 m) Friday evening, with forecast rainfall. Further rises are possible.
