Flood Watch For Parts Of The Kimberley And Pilbara Districts

FLOODING POSSIBLE IN THE COASTAL PARTS OF THE KIMBERLEY AND THE PILBARA INTO MONDAY

Tropical Cyclone Sean has now formed during Sunday and is moving west to southwest offshore from the west Pilbara. While this system is expected to remain offshore, it is bringing increased rainfall to areas near the Pilbara coast and western Kimberley.
Catchments in the generalised Flood Watch area are slowly wetting up in parts of the Kimberley and Pilbara, leading to river, stream and creek level rises.
Severe thunderstorms are possible with heavy falls through to Monday across parts of the Pilbara and Kimberley. Daily rainfall totals of 50-100 mm are possible through to Monday, with isolated higher totals possible.
Minor flooding is possible with forecast rainfall. Flooding may affect road conditions, likely impacting travel and movement across the West Kimberley, and the Pilbara coastal areas, including Minilya-Exmouth Road, from the remainder of Sunday onwards.

Final Flood Warning For The De Grey River Catchment

RIVERINE FLOODING EASING THROUGHOUT THE DE GREY RIVER CATCHMENT
Elevated river levels are easing along the Oakover, Shaw and De Grey Rivers, with isolated minor flooding occurring along the Oakover River at Ripon Hills Road only. River and creek levels are expected to continue easing and further widespread riverine flooding is no longer expected.
The chance of showers and thunderstorms remains over the De Grey catchment during Sunday. However, forecast rainfall totals are not expected to cause significant riverine flooding.
A Flood Watch for parts of the Kimberley and the Pilbara district remains current, including the De Grey River catchment, due to the continued risk of localised flooding affecting road conditions.

Oakover River:
Minor flooding is easing and just above the minor flood level along the Oakover River at Ripon Hills Road. River levels are expected to continue easing.
Nullagine River:
River levels are easing along the Nullagine River at Tumbinna Pool. Small renewed rises are possible but significant riverine flooding is not expected.
Coongan River:
The Coongan River at Marble Bar is currently at 0.53 metres and falling slowly, below the minor flood level (1.00 m). Small renewed rises are possible but significant riverine flooding is not expected.
Shaw River:
Elevated river levels below the minor flood level are easing at Marble Bar Road.
De Grey River:
Flooding is not expected along the De Grey River at Coolenar Pool.
The De Grey River at Coolenar Pool is currently at 1.50 metres and steady, below the minor flood level (5.50 m).
The De Grey River at Coolenar Pool is expected to remain below the minor flood level (5.50 m).

Fire Weather Warning

for Exmouth Gulf Coast and Gascoyne Inland fire weather districts

Weather Situation
Hot to very hot conditions over the northwest of the state will combine with fresh to strong and gusty northeast to southeast winds over the northern Gascoyne, with winds potentially reaching gale force over the western Pilbara. This will lead to elevated fire dangers on Sunday.
