Severe Weather Warning
for Damaging Winds And Heavy Rainfall
for South East Coastal and parts of Goldfields, Eucla, Great Southern, Central Wheat Belt, Gascoyne and South Coastal districts.

Ex-Tropical Cyclone Narelle continues to move southeast, bringing damaging winds and heavy rainfall to southern and central parts today.
Weather Situation
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Narelle has weakened this morning, becoming a subtropical low which is currently located in the inland Central Wheat Belt near Merredin. The system will continue to weaken and move rapidly towards the south southeast today, with the risk of damaging winds and heavy rainfall continuing as the system passes through the southern Gascoyne, Goldfields and inland parts of the South West Land Division. The system eventually moves off the south coast to the west of Esperance later this evening.
DAMAGING WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Gascoyne, Goldfields, Eucla, South Coastal, South East Coastal, Great Southern and Central Wheat Belt
Winds will average 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS to 100 km/h during the rest of Saturday, most likely east of Merredin to Ravensthorpe, including Kalgoorlie and Esperance.
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is forecast for parts of the Gascoyne, Central Wheat Belt and Great Southern districts during the afternoon, easing by early evening. Six-hour rainfall totals between 30 and 50 mm are possible.
Conditions are likely to ease below warning thresholds during the late evening as the system moves offshore.
Widespread rain and isolated thunderstorms are also likely over remaining southwestern parts of the state during Saturday. If heavy rainfall develops in this area, a separate Severe Thunderstorm Warning may be issued.

Locations which may be affected include Esperance, Kalgoorlie, Merredin, Norseman, Hyden and Israelite Bay.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* If outside find safe shelter away from trees, power lines, storm water drains and streams.
* Close your curtains and blinds, and stay inside away from windows.
* Unplug electrical appliances and do not use land line telephones if there is lightning.
* If boating, swimming or surfing leave the water.
* Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen power lines and loose debris.
* Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
* Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris.
* Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live.
* Assess your home, car and property for damage.
* If damage has occurred take photos and contact your insurance company to organise permanent repairs.
* If your home or property has significant damage, like a badly damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500.
The next Severe Weather Warning will be issued by 5:00 pm AWST Saturday.
