Headline:
Tropical Cyclone Fina continues to weaken over land near the northeast Kimberley coast.

Areas Affected:
Warning zone: King George River Mouth to Berkeley River Mouth, and further east to the Cambridge Gulf.

Watch zone: None.

Cancelled zone: None.

Details of Tropical Cyclone Fina 02U at 11:00 am AWST:
Intensity: Category 1, sustained winds near the centre of 65 kilometres per hour with wind gusts to 95 kilometres per hour.
Location: within 30 kilometres of 14.6 degrees South 127.5 degrees East, estimated to be 30 kilometres southwest of Berkeley River Mouth and 120 kilometres northwest of Wyndham.
Movement: slow moving.
Tropical Cyclone Fina crossed the coast at around 9pm AWST Monday, and is now slow moving just inland of the northeast Kimberley coast, just to the southwest of the Berkeley River Mouth. Fina is expected to weaken further today while slowly moving inland.

Hazards:
GALES with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS to 100 km/h are occurring along the coast and adjacent inland areas between King George River Mouth and the Cambridge Gulf. These conditions are expected to ease this afternoon as Fina weakens further. HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is occurring about the northeast Kimberley coast and adjacent inland areas. A Severe Weather Warning is also current for possible heavy rainfall to the southeast of the Warning Zone. Tides will be higher than normal between King George River Mouth and the WA/NT Border. LARGE WAVES may produce MINOR FLOODING of low-lying coastal areas.

Heavy rainfall possible in rain bands to the south and southeast of Tropical Cyclone Fina.

Weather Situation
Tropical Cyclone Fina is slowly moving over the northeast Kimberley. A very moist onshore flow on it's eastern side is producing a broad area of heavy rainfall as it weakens over land.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Kimberley
HEAVY RAINFALL which may lead to FLASH FLOODING is likely in the warning area. Six hourly totals of 60-80 mm are expected, with isolated totals of around 150 mm possible.
Conditions are expected to ease during Wednesday morning.

Locations which may be affected include Wyndham.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:
* If outside find safe shelter away from trees, power lines, storm water drains and streams.
* Close your curtains and blinds, and stay inside away from windows.
* Unplug electrical appliances and do not use land line telephones if there is lightning.
* If boating, swimming or surfing leave the water.
* Be alert and watch for hazards on the road such as fallen power lines and loose debris.
* Keep away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
* Be careful of fallen trees, damaged buildings and debris.
* Be careful of fallen power lines. They are dangerous and should always be treated as live.
* Assess your home, car and property for damage.
* If damage has occurred take photos and contact your insurance company to organise permanent repairs.
* If your home or property has significant damage, like a badly damaged roof or flooding, call the SES on 132 500.

REMARKS:
Tropical Cyclone Fina is weakening rapidly over land near the northeast Kimberley coast, and is tracking slowly to the southwest. The centre is now hard to locate on the Wyndham radar. Intensity is estimated at 45 knots, based on the expected weakening rate of a system overl and. Subjective Dvorak and objective aids are no longer applicable. Structure is based on radar presentation along with model guidance. Up until recently, Fina has been holding it's intensity longer than would be expected for a small system moving over land. This was due to excellent environmental support, with good upper divergence and outflow coupled with low shear. However, now that Fina is sufficiently inland, weakening is accelerating, and it is forecast to drop below tropical cyclone intensity within the next 6 hours. The current southwest movement of Fina should become more southerly overnight as a mid-level ridge to the east and a trough to the west become the dominant steering influences. The remnants of Fina should then dissipate on Wednesday morning as the deep convections separates from the surface circulation.
