Your Easter capital city weather forecasts
Source Weatherzone Thu 17 Apr 2025
What will the weather do over the Easter break? Will you be hiding indoors gorging on chocolate bunnies or having Easter egg hunts in the sunshine? Here’s the latest forecast for each capital city. Adelaide After a warm Friday and first part of Saturday, some very welcome showers will move in later on Saturday and stick around into Sunday. If Sunday morning Easter egg hunts across the city are rained out, we’re pretty sure there won’t be too many complaints. Friday: 28°C Saturday: 27°C Sunday: 20°C Monday: 21°C Brisbane Just about the pick of the capitals, with lovely warm weather under clear skies and no significant chance of a light shower until Monday. Friday: 28°C Saturday: 28°C Sunday: 29°C Monday: 30°C Canberra A fine, warm Easter long weekend in the national capital, with coolish minimums in the single digits, but Canberra has already dipped below zero once this month already so it'll be nothing locals can’t handle. Friday: 26°C Saturday: 27°C Sunday: 27°C Monday: 22°C Darwin Darwin has already more than doubled its average monthly rainfall in April 2025, thanks mostly to heavy rain early in the month. But the wet season is nearly over now and the Easter break should be mostly fine, with just the chance of a shower on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Friday: 33°C Saturday: 33°C Sunday: 32°C Monday: 33°C Image: Rainfall in Darwin (blue) vs the monthly average (pale blue) over the last 12 months. Hobart A relatively mild long weekend in Hobart, given that the average April maximum is just 17.4°C. The period from late Saturday into Sunday looks a little soggy. Friday: 23°C Saturday: 21°C Sunday: 21°C Monday: 21°C Melbourne A bit of everything for Melbourne, as is generally the way. After a burst of dry summery heat to start the break, maximum temps will drop by 10 degrees between Friday and Monday, with showers looking likely on Sunday and Monday. Friday: 30°C Saturday: 28°C Sunday: 25°C Monday: 20°C Perth A lovely sunny Easter break lies ahead for Perth, with the high likely to touch 30°C on Monday – which would be the sixth time that has happened in a month when maximum temperatures are averaging around 2 degrees above the long-term average. Sydney It’ll be a warm and largely dry long weekend in the harbour city, and with sea surface temperatures still hovering around 22°C, expect parking spots near the beach to be more elusive than the Easter bunny.
