    Moderate Flood Warning For The Katherine River

    MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT KATHERINE BRIDGE AND NITMILUK CENTRE, WITH RENEWED MODERATE FLOODING POSSIBLE FROM OVERNIGHT TUESDAY INTO WEDNESDAY
     Minor flooding is occurring along the Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre and at Katherine Bridge.  At Nitmiluk Centre, renewed rises are likely as upstream flows arrive and the river level may reach around the moderate flood level overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.  Further downstream at Katherine Bridge, small renewed rises are occurring and moderate flooding is possible  from overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.
     Widespread heavy falls are unlikely, but isolated heavier falls remain possible for the next few days. The situation is being closely monitored and the warning will be updated as required.
     A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Top End.
    
    Katherine River Gorge Road:
    Moderate flooding is possible at Katherine River Gorge Road. 
    The Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre is currently at 4.85 m and steady, with minor flooding.
    Renewed river level rises are likely along the Katherine River at Nitmiluk Centre and the river level may reach around the moderate flood level (5.50 m) overnight Tuesday into Wednesday. The river may remain near the moderate flood level (5.50 m) overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday. 
    
    Katherine Town:
    Moderate flooding is possible at Katherine Town.
    The Katherine River at Katherine Bridge is currently at 16.05 m and rising slowly, with minor flooding.
    Small renewed rises are occurring along the Katherine River at Katherine Bridge and the river level may reach around the moderate flood level (16.50 m) overnight Tuesday into Wednesday.The river may remain near the moderate flood level (16.50 m) overnight Tuesday and into Wednesday. 
    
    Flood Safety Advice:
    Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
     Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.
     Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.
     Check the ABC and local media for updates. The situation can change quickly, so stay informed.
