    Mallee, Wimmera, Northern Country, East Gippsland, West and South Gippsland and North Central
    
    Safety Advice:
     Extreme heatwaves can be dangerous for everyone.
     Severe heatwaves can be dangerous for many people, especially older people, babies, children, pregnant and breastfeeding women, people with medical conditions and people who are unwell.
     Seek a place to keep cool, such as your home, a library, community centre or shopping centre.
     Close your windows and draw blinds, curtains or awnings early in the day to keep the heat out of your home.
     If available, use fans or air-conditioners to keep cool.
    
    Maximum temperatures in the low to high forties over much of Victoria on Tuesday, then expected to range from the mid thirties to low forties over inland Victoria from Wednesday until Saturday. Over Alpine regions, maximum temperatures in the high twenties to high thirties. Overnight minimum temperatures in the high teens to mid twenties, and as low as the mid teens over Alpine regions from Wednesday. 
    
    Severe to extreme heatwave conditions will persist for an extended period, peaking on Tuesday and Wednesday, before gradually easing from the southwest later in the week and over the weekend. 
    
    Extreme heatwave conditions are no longer expected over the East Gippsland district, however severe intensity heatwave conditions will persist in these districts until later in the week.  Locations likely to be impacted include Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, Echuca, Mildura, Maryborough, Ouyen, Shepparton, Swan Hill, Stawell and Wangaratta.
    
    The next heatwave warning will be issued by 3:00pm EDT on Wednesday 28 January 2026
