Detailed Severe Thunderstorm Warning
for Large Hailstones And Damaging Winds
for parts of Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury, Gosford/Wyong and Sydney areas.

Severe thunderstorms continue to develop around Sydney and Gosford this afternoon.
LARGE HAILSTONES and DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury, Gosford/Wyong and Sydney
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 5:00 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce large hailstones and damaging winds were detected near Sydney Olympic Park, Calga and the Wollemi National Park north of Kurrajong. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Sydney City, Gosford, the Sydney Harbour Bridge and waters off Bondi Beach by 5:30 pm and St Albans, Mangrove Mountain and Upper Mangrove by 6:00 pm.
2 cm hailstones were reported at Engadine around 4:20 pm
Cancellation for the following areas:
Wollondilly/Wingecarribee,Wollongong
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
* Unplug computers and appliances.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Hunter, Metropolitan, Central Tablelands and parts of the Mid North Coast, Illawarra, North West Slopes and Plains, Central West Slopes and Plains and Upper Western districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 6:05 pm.
