for Damaging Winds And Large Hailstones
for parts of Maitland/Cessnock and Greater Newcastle areas.

Severe thunderstorms with damaging wind gusts and large hail about Cessnock, tracking east.
DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES for the following areas:
Maitland/Cessnock and Greater Newcastle
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 1:35 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstones were detected near Cessnock, Pokolbin and the Wollemi National Park southwest of Singleton. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east. They are forecast to affect Branxton, Kurri Kurri and Hexham by 2:05 pm and Maitland, Raymond Terrace and Medowie by 2:35 pm.

110 km/h wind gust recorded at Orange at 11:52 am.
98 km/h wind gust recorded at Parkes at 11:02 am.
Cancellation for the following areas:
Wollondilly/Wingecarribee,Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury,Wollongong,Sydney
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
* Unplug computers and appliances.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning is also current for the Hunter and parts of the Mid North Coast, Central Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Central West Slopes and Plains and Upper Western districts.
The next warning is due to be issued by 2:35 pm.
