for Heavy Rainfall
for parts of Maitland/Cessnock and Greater Newcastle areas.

Heavy rainfall is ongoing about parts of the Hunter.
HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Maitland/Cessnock and Greater Newcastle
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 12:10 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near Belmont and Lake Macquarie. This thunderstorm is moving towards the west. It is forecast to affect Freemans Waterhole by 12:40 pm.
74.2 mm OF RAINFALL WAS RECORDED AT WEBBS CREEK (WISEMANS FERRY) IN THE 2 HOURS TO 8:37 AM.
72.0 mm of rainfall was recorded at Maroota (Tobruk) in the 3 hours to 8:32 am.
53.2 mm of rainfall was recorded at Shanes Park (South Creek Road) in 1 hour to 06:55 am.
68.0 mm of rainfall was recorded at Liverpool (Georges River) in the 5 hours to 05:15 am.
39.5 mm of rainfall was recorded at Kelso Creek in 1 hour to 04:45 am.
44.0 mm of rainfall was recorded at Peakhurst Golf Club in 1 hour to 04:30 am.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
