Severe thunderstorms continuing in eastern parts this evening.

Weather Situation
A warm, moist, unstable atmosphere and a surface trough is producing thunderstorms across the State today.
HEAVY RAINFALL, DAMAGING WINDS and LARGE HAILSTONES for the following areas:
Mid North Coast, Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Southern Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Snowy Mountains and Northern Tablelands
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, damaging winds and large hailstones in the warning area over the next several hours. Locations which may be affected include Taree, Gosford, Batemans Bay, Scone, Katoomba and Moruya Heads.
A separate Severe Weather Warning is current at the time of issue.

POSSIBLE GIANT HAIL WITH STORM NEAR KIAMA

GIANT HAILSTONES, DAMAGING WINDS and HEAVY RAINFALL for the following areas:
Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury, Greater Newcastle, Gosford/Wyong, Sydney and Greater Wollongong
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 7:10 pm, a VERY DANGEROUS THUNDERSTORM likely to produce large, possibly giant hailstones, damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near Kiama and Jamberoo. This thunderstorm is moving towards the east. It is forecast to affect Shellharbour, waters off Kiama and Oak Flats by 7:40 pm.
Another severe thunderstorm likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding was detected near Wisemans Ferry and Spencer. This thunderstorm is moving towards the east. It is forecast to affect Gosford, Calga and St Albans by 7:40 pm and Wyong, Budgewoi and Dooralong by 8:10 pm.
