for Maitland/Cessnock and Greater Newcastle areas.

Severe storms have eased over the area, gusty conditions remains.

cancellation of detailed severe thunderstorm warning for the following areas:
Maitland/Cessnock and Greater Newcastle
Severe thunderstorms are no longer affecting Sydney Newcastle Wollongong and surrounding areas. This warning is now cancelled.
Cancellation for the following areas:
New South Wales Anonymous Locale 1

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* Beware of fallen trees or debris on the road.
For emergency help in flood and storms, ring the SES on 132 500.

A more general severe thunderstorm warning remains current for parts of the Mid North Coast and Hunter districts.
