for Heavy Rainfall, Large Hailstones And Damaging Winds

for parts of Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, Central West Slopes and Plains, Upper Western, North West Slopes and Plains and Snowy Mountains Forecast Districts.

Severe thunderstorms continuing across the state this afternoon.

Weather Situation
An approaching upper trough is combining with a warm and unstable airmass to produce severe thunderstorms this afternoon.
HEAVY RAINFALL, LARGE HAILSTONES and DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands, North West Slopes and Plains, Central West Slopes and Plains, Upper Western and Snowy Mountains
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, large hailstones and damaging wind gusts over the next several hours in parts of the Hunter, Metropolitan, Illawarra, South Coast, Central Tablelands and Snowy Mountains districts. Locations which may be affected include Katoomba, Bathurst, Glen Davis, Lithgow, Jenolan Caves and Springwood.
Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging wind gusts over the next several hours in parts of the Central West Slopes and Plains, Upper Western and North West Slopes and Plains districts. Locations which may be affected include Walgett, Coonamble, Nyngan, Lightning Ridge, Brewarrina and Goodooga.
Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Southern Tablelands, South West Slopes and Lower Western districts and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.
Cancellation for the following areas:
Lower Western,South West Slopes,Southern Tablelands

The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Move your car under cover or away from trees.
* Secure or put away loose items around your house, yard and balcony.
* Keep at least 8 metres away from fallen power lines or objects that may be energised, such as fences.
* Report fallen power lines to either Ausgrid (131 388), Endeavour Energy (131 003), Essential Energy (132 080) or Evoenergy (131 093) as shown on your power bill.
* Trees that have been damaged by fire are likely to be more unstable and more likely to fall.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* If you are trapped by flash flooding, seek refuge in the highest available place and ring 000 if you need rescue.
* Be aware that run-off from rainfall in fire affected areas may behave differently and be more rapid. It may also contain debris such as ash, soil, trees and rocks.
* After bushfires, heavy rain and the loss of foliage can make the ground soft and heavy, leading to a greater chance of landslides.
* Unplug computers and appliances.
* Avoid using the phone during the storm.
* Stay indoors away from windows, and keep children and pets indoors as well.
* Stay vigilant and monitor conditions. Note that the landscape may have changed following bushfires.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.

The next warning is due to be issued by 7:15 pm.

for parts of Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury, Wollondilly/Wingecarribee and Greater Wollongong areas.

Severe thunderstorms continue in the Blue Mountains and Southern Highlands this afternoon.

HEAVY RAINFALL, LARGE HAILSTONES and DAMAGING WINDS for the following areas:
Blue Mountains/Hawkesbury, Wollondilly/Wingecarribee and Greater Wollongong
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 3:45 pm, severe thunderstorms likely to produce heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding, large hailstones and damaging winds were detected near the Nattai Tablelands and the Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens. These thunderstorms are moving towards the east to northeast. They are forecast to affect Bilpin, Bargo and the area south of Wilton by 4:15 pm and Picton, the Wollemi National Park north of Kurrajong and Kurrajong by 4:45 pm.
Cancellation for the following areas:
