Maitland/Cessnock and Greater Newcastle
Severe thunderstorms are no longer affecting Sydney Newcastle Wollongong or surrounding areas. This warning is now cancelled. Other warnings may be current. Please check https://www.bom.gov.au/weather-and-climate/warnings-and-alerts/.
The State Emergency Service advises that people should:
* Keep clear of fallen power lines.
* Keep clear of creeks and storm drains.
* Don't walk, ride your bike or drive through flood water.
* For emergency help in floods and storms, ring the SES (NSW and ACT) on 132 500.
A more general severe thunderstorm warning remains current for the Mid North Coast, North West Slopes and Plains and parts of the Hunter, Central West Slopes and Plains and Northern Tablelands districts.
No further warnings will be issued for this event.
