Major Flood Warning For The Namoi River

MAJOR FLOODING CONTINUING AT GUNNEDAH AND POSSIBLE AT NARRABRI FROM EARLY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AND AT WEE WAA FROM WEDNESDAY EVENING
Major flooding is easing along the Namoi River at Gunnedah where the river level peaked Tuesday morning.
The main flood peak along the Namoi River has passed Boggabri where minor flooding is slowly easing.
At Narrabri moderate flooding is occurring. As flood waters move downstream, major flooding is possible at Narrabri from Wednesday afternoon and at Wee Waa from Wednesday evening. Minor flooding may develop at Bugilbone during Sunday.
Minor flooding is possible at Goangra from Thursday driven by local flood waters ahead of the arrival of the main flood peak from upstream.
Peak forecasts will be refined as upstream peaks are observed.
Namoi River:
Minor to major flooding is occurring along the Namoi River.
The Namoi River at Gunnedah peaked at 8.51 m around 03:00 am Tuesday 5 August, with major flooding. The river is currently at 7.98 m and steady, with major flooding.
The Namoi River at Gunnedah is likely to fall below the major flood level (7.90 m) Wednesday morning. The river may fall below the moderate flood level (7.60 m) Wednesday evening.
The Namoi River at Boggabri peaked at 8.38 m around 08:30 pm Tuesday 5 August, with minor flooding. The river is currently at 8.24 m and falling slowly, with minor flooding.
The Namoi River at Boggabri may fall below the minor flood level (7.00 m) early Friday morning.
The Narrabri Creek at Narrabri is currently at 6.43 m and rising, with moderate flooding.
The Narrabri Creek at Narrabri may exceed the major flood level (6.70 m) early Wednesday afternoon and reach around 7.10 m Wednesday evening, with major flooding. Further rises are possible.
The Namoi River at Glencoe Wee Waa is currently at 6.33 m and rising slowly, with minor flooding.
The Namoi River at Glencoe Wee Waa may exceed the moderate flood level (6.40 m) Wednesday afternoon. The river may reach around the major flood level (6.70 m) Wednesday evening. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive. Peak forecasts will be provided once upstream peaks are observed.
The Namoi River at Bugilbone is currently at 4.38 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Namoi River at Bugilbone may reach around the minor flood level (4.90 m) during Sunday. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.
The Namoi River at Goangra is currently at 5.26 m and steady, below the minor flood level.
The Namoi River at Goangra may reach around the minor flood level (5.50 m) during Thursday driven by local flood waters. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.
