Minor Flood Warning For The Barwon And Darling Rivers
Issued at 01:54 PM EST on Friday 18 April 2025
Flood Warning Number: 15
*** Reissue to correct date of past flood peak at Walgett ***
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT BREWARRINA, LIKELY AT BOURKE FROM SUNDAY, AND LIKELY AT LOUTH FROM LATE NEXT WEEK
MINOR FLOODING OCCURRING AT WALGETT
The main flood peak along the Barwon River is nearing Geera. This flood water may cause minor flooding at Brewarrina from Sunday, before a minor flood peak in the middle of the coming week. Upstream of Brewarrina minor flooding is easing at Walgett where river levels may fall below the minor flood level during Monday.
Further downstream along the Darling River at Bourke, minor flooding may develop during Sunday as inflows from the Culgoa and Bokhara Rivers combine with Barwon River flows, with further rises predicted as the upstream peaks arrive later in April. Minor flooding is possible at Louth from late next week as inflows from the Warrego River combines with the flows from Bourke.
Waterholes and storages will fill as the flood waters move downstream through the Barwon and Culgoa Rivers. The flood peaks at Bourke and downstream will depend on how much water will be retained in the main channels of the rivers and how much is lost filling waterholes and along the flood plain. Peak predictions and timings at downstream locations will be refined once upstream peaks have been observed.

Peak predictions will be refined once upstream peaks have been observed.
