Flood Warning Number: 41
MAJOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT MARION DOWNS WEDNESDAY EVENING

Areas of heavy rainfall are forecast to continue across parts of the Georgina River and Eyre Creek catchments for the next few days, with significant rainfall having been observed in the upper reaches of the catchment over the last few days.

A moderate flood peak was observed on the Burke River at Boulia on Monday, and another peak was observed along Cottonbush Creek on Saturday. These flows are now entering the Georgina River and approaching Marion Downs, where moderate flooding is occurring and major flooding is expected by Wednesday evening. Further rises are likely as additional upstream flows from Urandangi arrive.
Further downstream along Eyre Creek, an earlier peak is approaching Bedourie, where moderate flooding is occurring, and is expected at Glengyle from later this week.
Continued heavy rainfall is expected to cause further river and creek level rises, localised flooding, and overland inundation in the coming weeks, potentially impacting road access and isolating some communities. The situation is being closely monitored and warnings will be updated as required.
A Severe Weather Warning is current for Heavy Rainfall in the far lower reaches of the catchment, including Bedourie and Glengyle.
